The babies were asleep in their cribs as I was strapped with one of them on my back. Ha! The whole thing was beginning to come together but there was still a long way to go. In order to furnish the house, it was going to be a huge effort with regards to both time and funds. It was also going to be a challenge to do my favourite shopping. In order to keep my budget intact, I went with three of my boys to look for deals at estate sales. The schedule we had for the week that consisted of spending Friday through Saturday at estate sales and garage sales purchasing new and old objects. I spent the rest of the week working on painting and sanding the driveway. The furniture I found looked similar to... that's when my passion to restore furniture started. The issue was not whether our house had already been furnished. At the local market I set up a little space, and also sold objects. My collection eventually grew enough that the area that I was living in was inadequate. At home, I started hosting open houses in which more than 1000 people could come in and buy any item they liked on the 1st floor over the course of a weekend. Growing Days is the result of all this. People were calling me and seeking help for their interior decorating and home renovations. A majority of them were people who walked into my house at my open house for furniture. After a while I started taking on clients at my pace. Soon I had multiple accounts, as well as a house renovations company. If you'd told me that this business of mine could become the basis of a television show on DIY Network I probably would have thought you were crazy. As I reflect at it, it has made me smile.
