Anna Leigh Ashford
Annaleigh Amanda Ashford (born April 14th, 1980) is an American performer, actor as well as a dancer. Some of her early Broadway productions include Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. In her performance as Essie as Essie in You Can't Take It With You she won the Tony Award. Annaleigh is a collaborator in projects with award-winning directors, actors, and producers throughout the course of her career. Ashford is scheduled to be as a co-star with Kumail Nanjiani in the Hulu limited series Welcome to Chippendales from creator Robert Siegel premiering on November 22. Ashford is currently in production for Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust starring opposite Sarah Paulson and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. The film is a Hulu Original and will be streaming on Disney DTC. Ashford's Broadway comeback will be in March 2023 when he stars opposite Josh Groban for the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail as director and Jeffrey Seller as producer will serve as the creators of the show. Ashford was Paula Jones most recently in Ryan Murphy FX's American Crime Story Impeachment, based off the scandal which was involving Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp in the national security crisis. She was in two seasons on the popular CBS comedy B Positive. It was co-produced by Chuck Lorre with Marco Pennette. The show featured Linda Lavin as well as Hector Elizondo and Ben Vereen. Ashford is no stranger to Broadway. Her performance as Essie on You Can't Take It with You won her the Tony Drama Desk Awards and Outer Critics Circle Awards. Sunday in the Park starring George Wicked and Legally Blonde is among her other Broadway credits. Born and raised in Denver Ashford currently splits her days between Los Angeles and New York.
